0870 calls are charged at 6.7p at peak time, 3.4p evening & 1.7p on weekend. Calls are charged at national rate for peak calls, this was the rate the everyone used to pay for a national rate pre-deregulation some still pay these rates now to call nationally.

National Rate 08 numbers

Owners of 0870 numbers currently can be receiving a small pence rate back for peak minutes only, usually one or two pence. This for large call volumes can help to support the services being offered on such numbers. Changes to Ofcom legislation in the future will effectively mean owners of 0870 numbers will have to pay up to five pence per minute to continue service on these numbers. In the future calls to these numbers will be charged at the same rate as 01, 02 & 03 numbers.
